Here’s the inside scoop from Marcela herself!
I provide natural henna designs for birthdays, baby showers, bar/bat mitzvahs, bridal showers, weddings, photoshoots, corporate events, and company picnics. I also do henna crowns for people who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or alopecia.
My first contact with henna was 14 years ago. My current husband came to Argentina to meet me, and he brought a packet of henna to mix and apply to his hair. I had no idea how to mix it or what it was. 2012 is the year I really got into henna. I got bridal henna done in India, and when I came back to the US, I decided to start practicing. I buy Indian spices at a local store, and one day, the girl at the cash register asked me to do bridal henna for her sister in law. That was my first big experience, and I realized that I really love applying henna. In 2014, I started working on my own.
The coolest event I have ever worked at was a top secret gig to do henna for a private university CEO. He was dared to get a My Little Pony tattoo on his shoulder!
I also love the college carnivals. It’s so much fun to do hand after hand and create so many different pieces.
I want my clients to know that I do henna with love and passion. I have spent hours and hours practicing in order to master the art. I take classes to continually improve my skills. Also, safety is my priority, so I only use natural ingredients in my henna paste.
