What are they saying about About Faces?
“Just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed the entertainment provided
by your caricature artist, Mr. Kirk Kuenzi. He was professional in every way;
prompt, courteous and friendly. We had invited about 60 kids to our daughter’s
Sweet 16 party and every one of them was thrilled to take a personal cartoon of
themselves home. He put the kids at ease as they sat for their illustrations
and did a wonderful job of capturing each child’s personality in the rendition,
as well as their physical characteristics. Grandpa and Grandma even got in on
the fun as they sat for their caricature. He made the night alot of fun and we
thank him most sincerely for the memories of this special event.”
Greetings!
It’s finally looking like summer! This summer has brought many new and exciting events and entertainers, so take some time to look through and see what happening at About Faces!
First of all, I want to welcome our newest agent, Jessica Steedman! If you would like to send Jessica a welcome email, introduce yourself, or book an event with her, click here.
June’s Featured Artist Sue McFeeters
Congratulations to Sue, our featured artist this month! Sue is a face
painter and henna artist with many years of service to the Maryland,
DC, and VA area. I asked Sue to answer a few questions so that we could
learn a little bit more about her and the great work that she does.
How many years have you been in the business? “I started face painting in October, 1997 (so 11 1/2 years)…..and I started
Henna tattoos in Sept. 2001 (so 7 1/2 years)”
How did you get into entertainment? “I was working as an assistant teacher in a nursery school ( my emphasis was art
) and one of the parents was an entertainment provider and he asked me if I
would like to try face painting. So I tried it and I loved it. So here I am
11 1/2 years later.”
What’s your favorite type of event? “I like the Corporate Picnics best because, unless it rains, it is nice to work
outside in a picnic atmosphere.”
What’s your
most memorable event? “Most memorable?…. hmmm…that is hard to say…..what is memorable is that this
job takes me to many exciting venues. I have painted in the U.S. Capital , on
the White House Ellipse, many of the Smithsonian Museums, the Library of
Congress, The National Aquarium, The U.S.S. Constellation, Camden Yards, The
Washington Nationals Stadium, just to name a few. I am not trying to brag… I
am just in awe of the many places this job has taken me.”
Obviously, Sue is a great and versatile entertainer and we’re happy to have her as part of our talented team! Check out her henna page and see some shots of her in action here! If you have an event that Sue could make special don’t hesitate to email us or give us a call at 1-800-923-8669!
Father’s Day
June 21st is Father’s Day! While you are busy deciding
what kind of party to throw dad and what to buy him, enjoy some
trivia:
· The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19,
1910, in Spokane, Washington by Sonora Louise Smart Dodd in
honor of her dad, William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran who was left to
raise his six children on a farm.
· The necktie is the most common and famous Father’s Day
gift. A
good place to buy dad a tie or a shirt might be one of 9,189 men’s clothing
stores around the country. Other traditional gifts for dad
such as fishing rods and golf clubs make for a happy Father’s Day for the 22,410
sporting goods stores in America.
· This is a big day for the 66.3 million fathers in
America.
· Nearly 96 million Father’s Day cards were given last
year in the United
States, making Father’s Day the fourth-largest
card-sending occasion.
and remember, the best gift for Dad is a big party with a caricature artist to help him remember the day forever!
We love hearing your comments and questions, so if you have a suggestion for future articles or artists’ features, or if you would like to book someone right away, send us an email or give us a call at 1-800-923-8669!
