Karen J is one of our Caricature Artists in Rockville:

In 1990, Karen got a summer job while studying at the Columbus College of Art and Design to draw at Cedar Point Amusement Park. She has been doing caricatures ever since. Through the years, she has done caricatures at art festivals in Ohio, retail in malls at Christmas in the DC area, four summers at Myrtle Beach, winter in Miami Beach and resorts in the Dominican Republic. For many years she had a full-time job as a decorative painter and just doing caricatures on weekends at parties. When she became a mom, that became too much work so she began just doing caricature party/event work. Over the years, the caricature work has expanded into a full-time thing which still allows her to be Mommy, taxi, and take care of her rescue dogs.

Lively and Fun!

Calm, Collected, and Fantastic!

Our event could not have gone better! Karen was fantastic. Working with seniors with dementia can be challenging, but Karen was calm and collected throughout the entire process. She even played along when I invited our Executive Director to have his portrait done by a "psychic" artist. I instructed him that he was to be thinking of his favorite pastime while Karen drew his portrait. I secretly told Karen to draw him as a hockey player. When his drawing was done, he was astonished that Karen had read his mind. The residents thought that it was all great fun! We will definitely be using your services in the future.

Very Popular!

The event was great! The caricature artist was so popular that we are probably going to have to book three for next year's Spring Fair.
