WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT THANKSGIVING
The Pilgrims didn’t really wear those funny-looking buckles and hats, but no one knows when or where this look originated.
Turkeys can have heart attacks. They can also drown by looking up when it’s raining. When they’re scared, they can run at speeds close to 20 mph!
At the first Thanksgiving, they had deer, codfish, and boiled pumpkins (as well as turkey, of course). They didn’t have bread, sugar, or milk. There were potatoes available, but the Pilgrims believed them to be poisonous!
They also didn’t have forks; they ate with spoons, knives, and their hands. Spitting on the floor and throwing bones into the fire when you were done was perfectly acceptable.
Turkeys only say “gobble, gobble” if they are male, about to go to sleep, and only in certain seasons.
