Happy Holidays! And welcome to the final About Faces newsletter of 2009! It’s time to book your last minute entertainment for your company holiday party or annual New Year’s event!
It’s that time of the year, the holidays are coming one after another and they don’t stop until New Year’s!
Christmas parties are booking up fast, so contact us soon to make sure you get the best entertainment available. We have Santa, elves, carolers, even stilt-walking toy soldiers! Face painters can paint holly, ornaments, reindeer and Santa onto smiling faces and wiggling arms. Caricature artists can draw all your guests, one by one, on a pre-printed background of a sleigh being pulled by reindeer.
A caricature artist is also a great way to ensure that you’ll remember New Year’s Eve, even if you’ve had a few too many! Or why not hire a juggler or magician to entertain your guests until the ball drops?
Goodbye Steve, Hello Nick!
After many months of dedicated About Faces service, Steve G. has left us for the irresistible allure of Virginia. Steve will be remembered for his natural bubble-making abilities, revolutionary hand caricatures, and questionable office pranks. Good luck Steve!
In related news, Nick will be joining us at least until the end of the year. Feel free to welcome him to the team!

Washington D.C. metro area (MD/DC/NOVA) It’s a great place to do party work. There is just so much going on. You never know where you’ll end up.
Area of Service :
I am a party caricature artist. What makes me unique, though is my speed and quality. I’m probably the fastest artist in Maryland D.C. and Virginia. I can do a black and white face in under one minute. I love it when guests at an event time me. It keeps me on my toes.
Number of years in the business:
This is my tenth year doing parties and events. I started at the tender age of 18. I like to think I ‘ve matured as an entertainer and an artist in all that time. It’s really cool to be able to go back and look at the work I was doing when I started to see how far I’ve come.
How did you get into the entertainment business?
Back in 1999 I was doing sketches at Six Flags America in Maryland and I just happened to meet Mike, the owner of About Faces. I actually had to go to an interview and do some on the spot sketches to show that I had the skill to make a good party artist. I had no idea that there was even a market for a party artist before then. Now I can hardly imagine what I would have done with myself all this time without party work.
What’s your favorite type of event? My favorite events are Black tie events. You meet the most interesting people from all walks of life and the mini conversations you get into during a sketch are always great. Plus, it’s always fun to get a little dressed up!
What’s your most memorable event?
Well, I’m not sure if this counts, but here goes. I am a HUGE Superman fan and there was an advanced charity screening of Superman Returns being held at a theater in Silver Spring, MD. The organizers of the event needed a face painter for the event to paint Superman related art on the kids faces. The artist would also be able to stay and watch the screening. Even though I don’t consider myself a face painter I do have some face painting experience and I can actually draw a Superman logo with my eyes closed so I jumped at the opportunity to work the job. It was an amazing event that I’ll always remember. The kids got their Superman face paints and I got to draw Superman logos and to see my favorite Superhero on the big screen before anyone else. I don’t think anything will ever top that one.
