Describe the type of entertainment you provide.
I splash people’s faces and arms with body paint and spoof glitter on them like a Fairy Godmother who has unlimited art supplies. I decorate them with face paint, glitter tattoos, and Henna.
When and how did you get into this business?
My first face painting was for my Neighbor’s kids. I have been doing art as a hobby since birth, and this experience was MIND BLOWINGLY FUN! I didn’t take it seriously since I had no idea how to market that sort of thing, but always secretly wanted to get into the biz. I got that chance when I started working as a booking agent for YOU (at About Faces Entertainment) and still am working as an agent. I do the gigs on the side now, which is great to be a part of both sides of the spectrum.
What is the most memorable event you have ever worked at?
One gig was a very fancy gig. This sweet little 6 year old girl with long blonde hair, bubbly blue eyes, and rosy cheeks came up to me to get herface painting. I said, "Hi sweetheart, what would you like for face painting?" I showed her my designs and gave her some ideas, and she said, "Zombie. I want to be a zombie." This took me by surprise and I gasped. "Zombie? Do you mean unicorns, rainbows, or something pretty and cute?" I said. She said, "No, I want a zombie." I looked around for parents to see if this was okay, because I was worried that if I painted this little girl as a zombie, I’d get the "Why did you do that to my daughter" look? But guess what? She watched the Walking Dead and her parents said, "Hey, if she wants to be a zombie, she can be a zombie." So that’s what I did. And after I painted her as a gory, bloody, flesh-decaying zombie, she started hiding behind trees and bushes and popping out to scare the guests at this formal event. I felt kind of like Dr. Frankenstein who created a monster and unleashed it into the community.
What is one thing you’d like everyone to know about you?
I may be available for your event, so call me! Also, I like turtles. 🙂
