Heather Joy - Texas Caricature Artists

Since her humble beginnings in 1990, Heather Joy has gone from working every summer at Six Flags Over Texas from 1990-1995, to studying fine art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1993-1995 and working with Gary Fasen at Six Flags Great America. She spent 5 years from 1995-2000 in Las Vegas making a living as an artist, working for Fasen Arts at Excalibur, New York New York, and MGM Casinos, then running the booth at Harrah's on the Strip. Finally settling down in Austin in 2001, she has returned to her Texas homeland to continue building her career as an artist. Coming up in Summer 2013, she will be managing the Caricature and Face Painting booths for Goofy Faces at the New England Aquarium in Boston, MA.

She has worked next to, trained, and learned from some of the best caricaturists in the country, including Steve and Gary Fasen, Buddy Rose, Glen Ferguson, Lorin Bernsen, Chris Galvin, Miguel Aguilar, Robert Sundin, J.W. Cornelius, and Teresa Farrington.

Heather draws amazing caricatures, her 20+ years of  experience is apparent as she captures in an instant the likeness and personality of each person she draws. Her classic art training is apparent in her mastery of facial anatomy, weight of line, and sculpting with color to create the illusion of depth on the page.
