Robert H - Tennessee Caricature Artists

Robert has been drawing much of his life, whether it was tree house designs or what the kid in class wanted him to draw.  In the 80’s he was blessed to work at Opryland, USA theme park in Nashville, where his dad, an art teacher of 30-plus years, was the manager of the Airbrush and Caricature Studios.  At first only a cashier, he would pick up the airbrush equipment and practice with the guns, which led to a new found ability in airbrushing.  Later he attended his dad’s classes on caricature and discovered yet one more talent.  Robert has been drawing caricatures and refining his style since then.

Robert has over 25 years of experience drawing and airbrushing at conventions, fairs, festivals, and parties, but still tries to learn something new at each event to refine his skills.  His 12-year stint as a screen-print computer graphic designer has helped to add an additional spin to his work on occasion and his uncanny ability with the airbrush has served him well, even in drawing folks on walls and shirts. With a great attention to detail, he enjoys pre-drawing situations for some events and adding the face there, in order to give the customer and very clean and detailed product.

Robert has been called “the Kind Caricaturist” and he and his wife have coined the word PORTRICATURES to describe his style.  He lives outside of Nashville with his two talented children and his wife of 23 years.  Often together, they travel around in search of uniqueness to capture.
