Mike A - New Jersey Caricature Artists
Mike unwittingly began his caricature career in grammar school constantly drawing cartoons of all his teachers and friends to great applause. It was then that he decided to make drawing funny pictures of people his life’s work.
After graduating from the School of Visual Arts, Mike spent a few years freelancing before he landed at Sesame Street for almost ten years doing art and animation for all of their award winning CD-Roms as well as the popular ‘Journey To Ernie’ segment of the TV show.
Now he’s freelancing again and does a lot of commercial artwork which can be seen on everything from greeting cards, in magazines, on book covers, t-shirts, puzzles, card games, restaurant menus, children’s books, company logos and has even self-published a cartoon humor magazine titled JOKESTER. His clients include: MAD Magazine, Nickelodeon, Hooked on Phonics, Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, California Pizza Kitchens, Scholastic and more.
Mike loves doing caricatures because it affords him the opportunity to get out from behind the computer screen and interact with real people when they’re having fun. There aren’t too many things he finds more satisfying than trading a drawing for a smile.
