Lena J - North Carolina Caricature Artists
Lena J is one of our Caricature Artists in Charlotte:
Lena is a renaissance woman who absolutely LIVES for the arts! She works as a painter, published writer, illustrator, art-instructor and performer, but her passion and full-time job is being a cartoonist! After studying art and literature at Winston-Salem State University, she has spent over 18 years professionally honing her craft.
After an early start drawing in the lobby of her Uncle’s restaurant at only 17 years old, Lena’s love of all things ‘comics and cartooning’ brought her full-circle to working at her child-hood dream, Carowinds amusement park where she first fell in love with the art of caricature! From there she’s been drawing up an down the east coast, creating her own comic book series, animating projects for various clients and carving out a niche’ in the male-dominated arena of comics as the “First Lady Of The Quick Draw”!
Lena’s work has been featured in numerous publications, public and private murals, various collaborative projects as well as several galleries. She has worked for many notable corporate clients that include: Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, McDonalds, Burger King, Bank-Of America, Dell and Microsoft to name a few. Lena has also had the pleasure of drawing & presenting her work personally to Academy-award winner Mo’Nique, comedian & radio host Steve Harvey, radio personality Tom Joyner and various comedians for the “Comedy Zone” franchise.
Lena’s motto : “I never met a face I couldn’t DRAW attention to!”
