Karen P - New Jersey Caricature Artists

Karen began her artistic journey as a child before memories begin. Though the early wall art was not exactly appreciated her family continued to encourage her creativity. A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree led to commissioned murals and portraits, as well as freelance illustration and design opportunities. Becoming a wife and mother of four / first a daughter and then triplets (2 sons & another daughter), Karen needed a flexible schedule as well as a creative outlet. Karen bargained with a local YMCA- free camp for daughter #1 and free babysitting for triplets in exchange for giant wall murals. While painting the mural a woman yoga teacher/artist came into the room to watch her. After a few minutes the woman asked Karen if she did caricatures. Karen said no. The woman responded with “ I see by what you are doing that you could. I need someone to do caricatures with me on Saturday and I would like you to do it.” Karen did do it and thus began her caricature career. Almost 25 years later Karen still loves to do caricatures at events, enjoying meeting people and new experiences as well as making people happy with her art.
