Joshua B - Utah Caricature Artists
Refusing to grow up helps in creating what one fan called "Art too cool to exist." Josh's inner child comes out frequently by doing things like using his living room walls as a canvas to paint a giant red octopus that confused spying neighbors from across the street, or to play with his childhood toys like He-man, Transformers and TMNT. He will even let his 3 boys and daughter play with him if they promise to not lose the accessories he had to reacquire because he loved and lost them as a child.
His whole life, he has had a sketchbook in his hands and doodling rather than doing his school work. He loves taking an idea and turning it into what people never knew they wanted by finding a way to capture the joy and whimsy in life. Why get a "real job" when people will pay to make silly pictures of them. Life can't get better than that.
In doing caricatures, he thinks it's fun to find the quirks in clients & their personalities to exaggerate and capture. The anticipation as they wait, then the joy and laughter when the portrait is revealed is like Christmas morning over and over. It never gets old seeing who will be next and discovering how to reveal their inner and outer selves. He even enjoys the support and constructive criticism of little girls upon seeing their caricature told him, "it's ok, I can't draw very good sometimes either"
