Dan W - California Caricature Artists

Dan started drawing caricatures professionally as a teenager on Venice Beach, just to earn some extra cash on the weekends. After Art School, Dan got a job as a caricature artist at a major Southern California theme park. Within 6 months, he became one of the top sellers and was promoted to Lead, and a year later became the trainer for new hires. Dan worked there for 5 fun years before getting into the animation industry, but he never lost his love of doing live caricatures, especially in the off season. Dan draws inspiration from great caricaturists like Tom Richmond, Mort Drucker, Thomas Nast, Bob Clampett, and Stephen Silver. But his earliest inspiration was an unnamed caricaturist from the boardwalk of Atlantic City, who drew his parents’ caricatures during their honeymoon, which they framed and hung in their house, where he saw them every day throughout his childhood.
