Dan S - New York Caricature Artists

Dan S is one of our Caricature Artists in Nyack:

Dan was formally trained in art at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his BFA in Illustration in 1991. Since then, he has done freelance illustration for various publications, including "The New York Times", "The Village Voice", and "Avenue" magazine. He started his fine arts career in 1996 when he founded the "4E Gallery" in Tribeca where he showed various artists, as well as his own work every month.

He also showed at numerous galleries and clubs, including the "Ace Gallery", the "Gershwin Gallery", "The Tunnel", and "Faces and Names",(159 W. 54th St.), and "Rumours"(8th Ave. & 55th St.) where he has a permanent exhibition. He has also done live caricatures at "Faces and Names" since they opened; about 10 years ago.

He has worked as a live caricature artist for the past 17 years, including work as Six Flags-Great Adventure and has been living on commissioned caricature paintings and freelance illustration projects for the past 10 years. He has done caricature in Central Park, NYC for the past 12 years. Dan is a recognized professional and member of the National Caricaturist Network.

Drawing Speeds (drawing speeds are an indication of what the artist is capable of and are not guaranteed)

Traditional Caricatures:
  • B&W Heads Only: 12 people per hour
  • B&W Body / Gag: 10 people per hour
  • Color Heads Only: 6 people per hour
  • Color Body / Gag: 5 people per hour

Rates

  • $210/hour, with a 2 hour minimum.
