Where do you Serve?:
Virginia, DC and Maryland
What type of Entertainment do you Provide?:
I provide cheek art and full face painting services for About Faces.
Number of years in the business:
5 years
How did you get into the entertainment business?
I was introduced into the entertainment business by a family friend who is also an entertainer. I’ve always enjoyed creative art forms, and my friend Jello the Clown was the one who introduced me to face painting. I love being creative and making kids smile, so I’ve been face painting ever since.
What’s your favorite type of event?
My favorite types of events are birthday parties and holiday/special events. I especially enjoy when kids keep coming back in line to be painted and adults who equally enjoy being painted with their kids.
What’s your most memorable event?
The most memorable event was painting for a baptism combination 1st birthday party and painting mostly adults than the kids. The adults came up with many challenging designs that were much different than requests from the kids, which helped test my creativity!
New Years Resolutions!
Did you know that making New Year’s resolutions dates back to the Babylonians? Here are a few of our New Year’s resolutions here at About Faces!
“To Learn a new skill, maybe guitar, or how to repair an aortic valve with or without help, because you never know when you may need a skill like that (guitar that is)” – Amanda Benet
“To be more organized and to resist all the sweets and goodies that come into the office.” – Jessica Steedman
“I have two: lose weight (what a shock, right?!) and to save money.” – Candace Cooper
“To lose some weight and get more photography experience, and maybe some schooling!” – Aryn Everts
“I don’t have one. Don’t want one. I’m completely aware of who I am, what I do and what can be changed and I will make changes when I’m good and ready. I don’t smoke anymore…well just occasionally. If I could win the lotto then I’ll make some resolutions” – Jocelyn Pabon
New Years Fun Facts!
-1907 – New York’s famous ball drops for the first time from Times Square on New Year’s Eve. It was a five foot ball made out of wood and iron, weighed 700 lbs, and included 100 25-watt bulbs.
-The ball has been dropped every year, except in 1942 and 1943 due to wartime lighting restrictions.
-Today, the ball is a 6-foot globe made out of Waterford crystal and weighs 1,070 lbs. It contains 9,576 LEDs and uses relatively little energy (as much as about 10 toasters). Its decent starts at 11:59 PM and reaches the bottom at the stroke of midnight.
